Sometimes what you plan for as an art project is not really planned at all. It can be something in your subconscious. Something swimmning around in your head as an idea that is not fully realized until you start drawing it on paper. Once you start drawing it, you may realize it was something you were thinking about, had a dream about, something you saw, or something you had an idea for a long while ago. Artists work with their emotions when creating art and this can lead to both conscious and subconscious feelings, subconscious thoughts. Is it an artist's ability to draw or the ability to think, to imagine, to create that is really the basis for his work. Sometimes an artists mind can be more useful and powerful than even the materials he uses to create his work.
